Plotter raises uninformative error message when plotting incompatible dimensions

If I create a Kwant system with sites from lattices embedded in spaces of different dimensions, then the plotter raises the cryptic error message

ValueError: Input has irregular shape.

We should consider detecting this error mode and raising a more informative error message.
