Video suggestions lecture_9
List of video suggestion for lecture 9 on crystal structures.
- lattices, (primitive) lattice vectors and (primitive unit cells). Introduce the definitions of these quantities and show an example such as the square lattice.
- Periodic structures and basis. Show a periodic structures and introduce the notion of a basis. Also introduce the conventional unit cell to further emphasize the usage of a basis. Maybe also give an overall guideline of how to tackle a periodic structure by setting up a lattice, primitive unit cell and basis.
- Example of graphene. I am not sure if you want to make a video of this or treat it during the lecture. It is a very nice example as it very nicely shows the usage of the pervious defined quantities.
- Wigner-Seitz cell. Show how it is drawn and what its properties are.
- Simple 3D crystal structure: simple cubic, fcc and bcc.
- filling factor alongside with the fcc example
- Miller planes
